Two samples of brown stringybark pollen from Tingha and Torrington have been tested for crude protein. The Tingha sample had a 19.6% crude protein and the Torrington sample 17.25%. Amino-acids were not analysed due to difficulty in correctly identifying the specimens.

If rain falls when brown stringybark is flowering, nosema may occur.
